Assessment of Radiological Hazards in Some Foods Products Consumed by the Malian Population Using Gamma Spectrometry

Background: Food consumption is one of the most important routes for radionuclide intake public; therefore, there need to have a comprehensive understanding amount radioactivity in food products. Consumption radionuclide-contaminated could increase potential health risks associated with exposure radiation such as cancers. The present study aims determine levels some products (milk, rice, sugar, and wheat flour) consumed Mali evaluate radiological effect on public from these radionuclides.Materials Methods: impact due ingestion radionuclides foods was evaluated by determination activity concentration <sup>238</sup>U, <sup>232</sup>Th, <sup>40</sup>K, <sup>137</sup>Cs using gamma spectrometry system high-purity germanium detector hazards index 16 samples collected markets, mall, shops Bamako-Mali.Results Discussion: average concentrations were 9.8±0.6 Bq/kg 8.7± 0.5 162.9±7.9 0.0035±0.0005 <sup>137</sup>Cs. mean values hazard parameters annual committed effective dose, internal index, risk assessment this work within dose criteria limits given international organizations (International Commission Radiological Protection United Nations Scientific Committee Effects Atomic Radiation) national standards.Conclusion: results show low health. Nevertheless, stipulates vital data future research regulatory authorities
